What moves us? Passion is, as Passion does... As a dancer with DK, I would hear the music-and I danced. Now I see others dancing-and I shoot (very quickly! given that its DK dancing; so much life, so much action, so much emotion in motion).
On the sepia series, I took the color out of the equation-so all we are left with is pure emotion. Lovers, victims, kings and princes...
The other side of the equation looks to the inside-private view, a studio dress rehearsal of The Four Elements: Earth. Choreography by David. Costumes by the inimitable Cherly Sparks.
As always, many thanks to everyone who helped pull this project together! We keep on, the keeping on...
As always, I hope you enjoy the show- and are moved.
BIO:
Roberta started shooting on a borrowed Nikon FM2, because she needed the credits while finishing her biology degree at Butler University. She was a professional ballet dancer for 7 years, finished her degree, and, many thanks to David Hochoy, returned to dancing with Dance Kaleidoscope. Her photos have been used by Butler University, Dance Kaleidoscope, Indianapolis Ballet Theatre, Indianapolis Dance Company, Motionwear, Ballet Counterpointe, Susurrus, and Thresh Dance. She is the recipient of a Creative Renewal Artist Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis, was featured in Indianapolis Woman Magazine, and currently teaches adjunct at Butler University, Indiana University (Bloomington), Anderson University (where she is also Dance Coordinator) and Jordan Academy. She wishes to thank Sarah A., Lisa H., and of course, David and the artists of Dance Kaleidoscope.
