Each Preservation Photo Frame features an archival (acid-free) mat to fit the next smaller size. For example:
a 4x6 frame's mat holds a 3x5 photo
a 5x7 frame's mat holds a 4x6 photo
a 8x10 frame's mat holds a 5x7 photo

While you can use a 4x6 frame for a 4x6 photo, we highly recommend you use the mats provided! They will keep the photo from touching (and eventually sticking) to the glass.
