Artist Statement:

Revealing the pure essence of an object lies at the heart of my photography. As an artist, I am interested in uncovering a sense of order in the randomness of my environment and the process of deterioration. In a culture where we are overwhelmed by stimuli, I find sanctuary in removing clutter and capturing serenity where it is least expected. The subjects speak to me and call to my attention their subtleties, imperfections and aesthetic qualities. Whether I am photographing a subject in its environment or extremely close-up, I am trying to uncover its essential properties. I am simultaneously revealing layers of time, man's presence and forces of nature.
